Deborah Ascher Barnstone is Associate Professor at Washington State University and Research Fellow at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Dr. Barnstone holds a PhD in Architectural History from Delft (2004); M. Arch from Columbia University (1992); and B. A. with High Honors in English Literature from Barnard College, Columbia University (1981). Dr. Barnstone is a licensed architect and partner with Ascher Barnstone Architects as well as an active architectural historian. Her book "The Transparent State: Architecture and Politics in Postwar Germany" was published by Routledge in 2005. She is currently working on a history of modernism in Breslau during the Weimar era.
