Mutin 509-335-4271 Anna Wegierska-Mutin joined the School in 1991 following a 25 year career in professional practice, working in Italy, France and the United States. First as a senior designer and a Senior Associate in the office of I. M. Pei & Partners, she had a primary role in the design of several major projects, including the 75 story First Interstate World Center in Los Angeles, Le Grand Louvre in Paris, Texas Commerce Center (now JPMorganChase) in Houston, CenTrust Tower in Miami, and the 11 hectare Al Salaam Residential and Commercial Centre in Kuwait. Previously, as a senior designer of Cossuta & Ponte, she was involved with the design of the Tour Credit Lyonnais in Lyon, France, and earlier, as a member of Harrison & Abramovitz, she worked on the Gan Tower in Paris, and the Albany Mall, in Albany, New York. A founding partner of Fredenburgh Wegierska-Mutin Architects, formed in 1990, she has participated in the built work of the firm in the US and China, and in several international competitions, including Spreinsel in Berlin, the Korean American Cultural Center in Los Angeles, the Competition for the Souks of Beirut in Lebanon, the Commercial Centre on Khor Dubai, Dubai, UAE, which was a round one selection, and the Hippodrome for Thoroughbred Racing in Dubai, UAE, which received first prize. Professor Mutin teaches fifth year design and courses in Theories and Methods of Urban Construction and The Form of the City. Research has included papers on The Tall Building Form and Transformation of the City, Morphology of the Canadian Prairie Town, and Colorist Rendering of the Sistine Chapel Ceiling. Currently she is investigating the reconstruction of two late Italian Renaissance cities in Sicily following the great earthquake of 1693.
